5th Annual Rubber Ducky Regatta to set sail at Castaic Lake with Supervisor Mike Antonovich as Honorary Chair

Santa Clarita, Calif., – Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc.’s Rubber Ducky Regatta is back and bigger than ever.  Ten thousand little yellow rubber duckys will race across the lagoon at Castaic Lake on October 20th. Fifth District Supervisor Michael Antonovich has accepted the role of Honorary Chairman for the Regatta. Supervisor Mike Antonovich will be in attendance at the festival to pluck the winning duck and award the Grand Prize.

 "I am pleased to participate in this effort to support the Samuel Dixon Health Centers, Inc. and appreciate the dedication and donations from our many volunteers and service organizations," said Supervisor Antonovich.  "The Health Centers is an effective public-private partnership and vital health resource for the Santa Clarita Valley."

Board president Ed Bolden said “The day at the lake will be a fun-filled family festival with food, entertainment and games, culminating in the 10,000 ducky race.  Kids and families are sure to have a great time.  This is an opportunity for the community to come together for a great time to improve access to healthcare in the Santa Clarita Valley.”

The ducks sell for $5.00 each and packages of ducks are available. The Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc. (SDFHC) was established in 1980 and named for long time Val Verde resident and minister, the late Reverend Samuel Dixon. A not-for-profit community health center, SDFHC serves the greater Santa Clarita Valley, and is governed by a twenty member board of directors, all of whom are Santa Clarita residents.  SDFHC promotes its mission to enhance wellness by providing quality primary health care services and health education to unserved and underserved residents, with a special emphasis on serving the uninsured.  Easily accessible services are available for the entire family in both English and Spanish. Medi-Cal, Blue Cross Medi-Cal and Healthy Families are all accepted, and a sliding fee scale is offered, keeping health care affordable for all.
